Here is our adoption timeline for when we adopted our daughter from India.
2015
November 18 – Got her passport copy, Article 23 and got news that my fingerprints passed this time! 🙂
November 16 – Biometrics done.
November 13 – Rec’d Meryl’s appointment letter for biometrics (fingerprints).
November 11 – Home visit from our social worker.
November 7 -11 – Emailed Dillon updated home study paperwork as they were complete.
November 6 – Submitted online payment to Dillon for updated home study.
November 4 -Finally received email copy of the written court order & updated info about her. 🙂
November 4 – Call w/Lauren about travel at 6am.
November 2 – Found out that our homestudy & fingerprints (biometrics) are expired. 🙁
October 31 – Lisa called about the written court order and that the orphanage applied for her passport.
October 27 -Written court order complete.
October 5 – Final court hearing. WE PASSED COURT!! Adoption is verbally official.
October 3 – Agency emailed and said that the Sept 28 court hearing has been postponed until October 5
September 10 – emailed and overnighted notarized kids’ medical letter to AWAA.
August 28 – Notarized, authenticated and mailed passport & OCI copies to Lisa.
July 29 – Our case has been filed in court.
July 28 – Received an emailed copy of the NOC!
July 22 – Lisa at AWAA let us know that the NOC was issued.
July 5 – CARA issued our NOC.
June 9 – Sending the kids’ Concurrence Statements.
June 5 – Lisa lets us know that she’s pretty sure we received ARC approval.
April 14 – The Immigrant Visa Unit in Delhi sent us an email stating that they mailed the Article 5 letter to CARA. (Attached was a digital copy of the Article 5 letter)
April 3 – Completed the DS-260 form and sent confirmation page to Lisa.
April 1 – Received emails from the US Embassy in India & the National Visa Center w/info pertinent to filling out the DS-260 form.
March 27- Received the Provisional I-800 Approval in the mail.
March 7 – Mailed I-800 & I-864W forms and all pertinent documents to the USCIS.
February 25 – Received email with I-800 & I-864W forms & list of documents to include to USCIS.
February 25 -Express mailed Declaration of Health forms to AWAA (so Lisa can send it with the dossier & album to India by Friday)
February 24 -Mailed baby’s album to AWAA.
February 20 –Sent notarized, authenticated referral dossier to AWAA.
February 13 – Received referral packet in the mail.
February 4 – Received DVD of the child via FedEx. Woo-hoo!
February 3 – AWAA sent BSSK documents that need to be filled out & sent back via email.
2014
December 9 – Pediatrician called about her assessment & we passed along the info to our agency with a verbal acceptance.
December 1- AWAA sent us medical info about child via email.
October 28 – Received information about the child via email.
October 27 – Received referral call & email. 🙂
October 7 – CARA approves us again – back on the list to be matched.
July 2- LifeSong called us with a grant of $5000!!!! Thank you Jesus!
June 20- Received approval of the I-800A (eligible to adopt up to 2 children).
June 5-6 – Went to the OKC & Edmond police departments for Meryl’s Background Clearances.
May 19 – Went to USCIS for fingerprints. Alan passed.
May 5-6- Got letter of receipt for I-800A Supplement from USCIS & appointment notice for fingerprints.
April 11- Received samples of I-800A Supplement 3 & news of our denial. 🙁
March 31- Received corrected home study pages via email.
March 27- Received updated home study in the mail.
February 10- Social worker visits our new home for home study update.
January 24- Sent Appeal Letter to AWAA to send to CARA.
January 21- Sent paperwork to Dillon for our updated home study & DHS for our updated Background Check.
2013
December 4- Matched with our lil boy on the CARINGS site.
November 26-Received our REFERRAL!!!!!
November 13- AWAA staff are in India to discuss cases that are ‘stuck’ (which includes ours!)
August 17- Payment to AWAA for half of remaining balance.
June 28- Dillon completed signed paperwork for AWAA on our behalf.
June 27- Accepted into AWAA’s India program after application process.
June 18 – JOH’s India Program transfers to AWAA. http://www.awaa.org/default.aspxApril 10 – Emailed our completed service plan to JOH.
April 6 – Received the receipt for the approved I800A.
March 22 – Finally entered into the CARA registry!!
March 20 – Mailed Meryl’s police clearance and fingerprint letter to JOH.
March 7 – 2nd attempt (Meryl’s) for Fingerprinting at the USCIS.
February 12 – Fingerprinting at USCIS.
January 24 – Received our appointment date & time for the USCIS.
January 11 – Dossier apostilled and sent to JOH.
January 7 – JOH sent our I800A form to the USCIS
January 5 – Received our Finalized Home study paperwork.
2012
December 29 – Received our Service Plan from JOH to complete
December 20 – Home study approved!
December 18 – Finally received our Letter of Good Conduct from Bahrain!!
December 11 – Ordered our first batch of Adoption Shirts (fundraiser)
August 24 – DC (Bahrain Embassy) sent Application to Bahrain
August 21 – Sent BG Check Application to DC
July 20 – Adoption Prep Education Approved!
July 17 – Had our second home study visit
July 11 – Completed and sent prep for adoption educational materials to JOH
July 3 – Received India program update from JOH. 1st home visit from Social worker for our home study
June 29 – Went to get local police clearance and kids’ birth certificates
June 28 – Received Levi’s new passport
June 27 – Sent JOH completed CARA registration form
June 26 – Sent Dillon background check forms. Returned completed I-800 form with additional documents to JOH
June 25 – JOH received 5th and final reference letter
June 23 – Received Meryl’s renewed passport
June 22 – JOH received 4th reference letter. Held our 1st fundraiser – Garage Sale
June 20 – Received requirements for dossier and CARA form. Sent Dillon our home study paperwork
June 19 – Completed our physical and lab testing for HIV and HepB
June 14 – JOH received 3rd reference letter
June 13 – Home study agency, Dillon International, sent our contract and application
June 8 – JOH received 2nd reference letter
June 7 – We received initial information with regards to our home study
June 4 – JOH received 1st reference letter. Our application for the India program was approved! JOH sent I-800A form
June 1 – Went to get certified copies of birth certificates and sent contract paperwork to JOH
May 31 – Ordered birth certificates for Meryl from NY
May 30 – JOH sent out contract packet
May 21 – Filled out online application for Journey’s of the Heart (JOH)
