Sweet Stuff

(The pic above is a sweet card my wonderful hubby surprised me with).

If you read my previous post, you would’ve read that we received another document along with our written court order. It was a wonderful snapshot into our baby girl’s typical day, mixed with hints of her sweet personality.

She’s doing great at a year and a half. She prefers to eat on her own- with her hands or a spoon instead of someone feeding her. She only gets meat (chicken) twice a month….we’ll definitely have to change that! (Her parents have a hard time with the Daniel Fast for 21 days). LOL. She drinks from a cup/glass with two hands (yay to no bottles that we know of). She has a sweet tooth and loves desserts (like the rest of her family). Haha!

She can get cranky without a full night rest but she generally is a very happy kiddo and greets everyone with a smile. It was funny to read that she can be stubborn at times but if you rub her back and talk to her softly she complies. It also says she behaves very well as long as she gets some love & attention (we won’t have any shortage of that). 🙂

My favorite part is that whenever a kid cries, she informs a caretaker – so sweet! It sounds like she tries to talk even though her speech is not legible so she’s definitely a go-getter! Doesn’t it sound like she’s an independent and compassionate little girl? Can’t wait to see how our family dynamic changes when she’s here!

And guess what? We finally got her size and measurements so we can now start getting clothes & packing for her. Our agency told us it’s rare that orphanages would give us so much detail. They had her day outlined by time for us and everyone that knows me knows that’s such a ‘Meryl’ thing. I believe God did it just for me! God knows I’m a detailed person and truth be told, I often experience His love for me in the little details.

Since the last blog, most of our homestudy paperwork has been completed. I’m just waiting on two more forms from our doctor’s office. Then, we’ll need a social worker to come visit us & write up her thoughts, submit it to our homestudy agency and so forth. These last few weeks have been tiring and a bit stressful. Much of it has to do with the pace at which we’re now trying to get everything together and the anxious wait (unknown) of when we can go get our baby girl. It’s SO much more tougher now that she’s legally our daughter and we can call her our own. If you’re a parent, you can imagine having a child far far away from you….not a great feeling at all. 🙁

We have to wait until her passport arrives to travel but as you’re reading this, would you please pray for us? Pray that:

  • Her passport will come soon
  • Our homestudy is completed in time
  • Our fingerprints will be expedited (Long story but it’s expired and my fingerprints are ‘unclassifiable’. The process generally takes several weeks which we don’t have.)
  • We will be able to relax and not be stressed when it’s time to travel
  • We’ll get tickets that aren’t crazy high during the holidays (sounds like a miracle needs to happen)

We would appreciate any prayers we can get!
