HOPE

It’s been almost 2 months since I posted anything. Two months may not seem like a long time in the grand scheme of things but it’s definitely enough time for a lot to happen….the biggest of which was the devastation that hit our cities because of some crazy tornadoes! I’m so proud to be part of a church & community where people love to give and serve but more than that, it’s amazing to see THE CHURCH stand together – regardless of what building they gather in weekly…being the hands and feet of Christ. When I think about all that happened, the pain, frustration and loss- only one word comes to mind for all those that were impacted as well as for the rest of us: HOPE.

Recently, I went to visit someone who I had adopted as my ‘grandma’ growing up. It broke my heart to see her so fragile, not being able to enjoy her life because of her loss of sight, hearing and memory. And again, I was reminded of HOPE.

Just this week, my mother-in-law heard the sad news that her brother and passed away and while we were sitting and reminiscing about life and death, there it was again….HOPE.

After weeks of my family being sick and receiving news of how our adoption agency is running into small roadblocks because of India’s processes with adoption. My mind races to hold onto the word – HOPE.

There’s the hope that we’ll see our loved ones again, hope that tomorrow will be better, hope that we can rebuild, hope that we can be healthy and happy someday, hope that my children are protected and provided for, and hope that they’ll be home soon. HOPE. In the Bible (Romans 15:13), we read that there’s a God of hope. He’s a God that gives us hope of a future (Jeremiah 29:11) and hope of eternal life (Titus 1:1-3). Instead of hoping for things to happen, I’ve come to realize how powerful it is to put our hope in the God that can make them happen!
