Just to give you a rough idea..I thought I’d list the steps for an international adoption so you can see where we are in the process. Mind you- this is the listing that OUR agency gave us and each step may require tons of small steps so it’s not as easy as 1-10!! (But who’s counting?)
1. Application
2. Contract for Services
3. Homestudy
4. Instructions for Required Documents
5. Dossier Preparation
6. Authenticating the Dossier & Sending it to the placement agency
7. Dossier is sent to the appropriate country
8. Referral of a child
9. Travel plans made
10. Bringing the child home.
The tricky part is that #8 can take a few months or even years. We’re hopeful that we’ll get to #10 this year. With God, anything is possible!
