Our India program coordinator went to India a few months ago and she came to find out that as we were sitting and waiting to now receive a new referral, the government agency (being careful not to name specifics) had taken us off of the list of families that were approved to be matched. It happened as soon as they rejected our referral to our little boy several months ago. They never bothered to let us know what they did and their reasoning was that we already had two bio kids. Excuse me? When did wanting more than two kids become a reason to turn down a family for adoption?
They had questioned our motives for wanting more children in January of this year so we wrote an appeal and they finally had approved us. Now to think they went back on all that after denying us Ethan was so upsetting.
Since then, we’ve been waiting to be back on the list and be matched. After months, I just got the most wonderful email today saying that we have been completely approved (back on the list)! This means that we’re ready to be matched as soon as a child that meets our criteria comes up.
I know, as you’re reading this, you may have thought the news was going to be that we received a match (referral). Although that would have been wonderful news, this is just as wonderful to hear when I think and pray about our adoption several times a day- everyday. This news is like a breath of fresh air, a ray of light, a glimmer of hope (you get the picture). I’m sure as heck not taking it for granted so don’t mind me as I take a moment to sit back and bask in God’s goodness.
