Last weekend was our first adoption fundraiser…a garage sale! For those of you who are not familiar with a garage sale, people sell all their used/unused ‘stuff’ that they don’t want anymore. Others come to their house and buy it! One’s junk is another’s treasure…(I think there’s a saying that goes something like that).
Well, since we have only been in our house for a year and a half, we didn’t have much to sell so we asked around to see if anyone wanted to donate stuff that we could sell. By the weekend, we had TONS of things to sell. So here’s my first shout out: ‘Thank you’ to everyone who donated. …which leads me to my second shout out: ‘Thank you’ for those who purchased things- if it weren’t for people like you, this definitely wouldn’t have worked! 🙂
Last but not least, I have a final shout out- to MY LIFE GROUP. If you ever come to my church (LifeChurch.tv), you will hear the phrase ‘doing life together’ ever so often. I never really ‘knew’ what that meant. I figured you get around, eat, talk for a bit, and leave. After all, everyone has their own lives! Since the first time we mentioned that we were adopting, my life group has jumped on board with both feet! They come up with ideas and constantly ask how they can help. Best of all, I just talked about throwing the garage sale and they spread the word, picked up loads of stuff from peoples’ houses, sat around for hours just sorting & pricing everything AND they even came both days to SELL the stuff. I can’t thank God enough for blessing me with an awesome Life Group…..so here’s to ‘doing life’.
